3 lbs. of Mass and a Fist-sized Muscle

Where I work is here. In my heart and in my head. I work for the Filipino family. I work for every child who yearns for a home. I work for every mother who needs to be appreciated. For every father who has spent five decades making a living. For every helper who dreams of working abroad. For every teacher who travels on foot across three mountains to hold a class under a tree. For every street child who collects garbage for food. For every beggar who sells his own eyes for five thousand pesos.

I work to be a good man, to be a better man. To make mistakes, be reprimanded and humiliated, and toughen up in the process.

I work to keep them proud; to keep those who worked hard for me happy. Those who live vicariously through me. I am their second chance.

I work when I need to, when I have to, and even when I don’t. Sometimes I overwork so I work to gain a sense of balance in life.

I work with sincerity and an open mind. I work with a vision, although blinded at times. I work with people from whom I can learn.

When I work, I want to be at the top of my game. Sometimes I don’t stop wanting so I stop working…

I work to relax. To look forward to a hot summer wind and a cool Christmas breeze.

I work for my future. For you my dear friend and our child-to-be.

I work for Him. To learn more about Him. To live a life with Him. I once worked disregarding Him; I may have achieved my goals but ended up achieving nothing.

This is my whole self. This is what I have got to offer to this family and my future family, to my country and the friends we have. 3 lbs. of mass and a fist-sized Muscle. This is where I work. In my heart and in my head.
