My homeland
That heroes shed their blood for
Who without rifles fought
In answer to the nation’s scorching need for justice
Why do we forsake you?
Conquistadors departed
Debilitating nation’s pride,
Saturating culture with insecurities
But why do we tolerate?
Blame not the era of the past
And invaders from foreign land
The past has spoken.
Ill it may be, some good transpired.
So why do our spirits still linger?
Wake up and remember
The cause of bloodshed
Bonifacio, Rizal, Silang fought
Armed only with the hope
That the children of their children
May breathe fresh air and appreciate the rising sun
Without the terror of abduction
So why do we forget
Tolerate,
Forsake?
Keeping our country chained in chary
Allowing it to sink in penury
Disregarding the children of this future
Why have we become selfish?
Do we not understand?
We were their reason for battle.
We were their hope.
Why do we not fight?
Why do we not hope?
